An Israeli air strike has hit the consular section of the Iranian embassy in the capital Damascus. At least five people have been killed. Among the dead is a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Several of the embassy's diplomats have also reportedly been killed in the attack. Iran's foreign minister says the Israeli attack is a breach of all international conventions.

Romania and Bulgaria partially joined Europe’s ID-check-free travel zone on Sunday, marking a new step in the two countries’ integration with the European Union. After years of negotiations to join the so-called Schengen area, there is now free access for travelers arriving by air or sea. Land border checks will remain in place, however, due to opposition primarily from Austria, which has long blocked their bid over illegal migration concerns.

Israel to Shut Down Al Jazeera

QATAR

Israel's parliament has passed a law that can allow a potential shutdown of foreign broadcasters in the country - including Al Jazeera. The law allows Israel to shut down any broadcaster if it deems its content 'threatens national security'. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referred to Al Jazeera as "mouthpiece of Hamas" and accused the media organization of having 'actively participated in the October 7 massacre' and 'incited' against Israeli soldiers.
